How did you meet? – Tyler and I met in high school. I was a freshman and he was a junior, and of course I had a huge crush on him. Some friends of ours set us up to meet, and we instantly hit it off. We were inseparable, and after a couple weeks of people thinking we were dating he finally asked me out. The rest is history.
Tell us about the proposal, what happened? – Tyler proposed to me on his 24th birthday at his parents ranch where we have spent a lot of our time together. We were coming home from Bigfork, and the entire drive home Tyler was quiet, and his palms were extremely sweaty! I asked him why his hands were so sweaty and his reply was “You make me so nervous”. He always says things like that so I didn’t think anything of it.
When we finally made it back to the ranch, I heard him tell his mom that his stomach didn’t feel well (poor guy was so nervous!). So he asked me to take a walk with him to get some fresh air. I got all ready for the walk and he disappeared for about 15 minutes. Little did I know he was asking my dad for permission to marry me, and getting the ring from his dad who was hiding it for him.
We started walking down the gravel road; it was such a beautful evening with the sun setting. We walked to this old, beautiful bridge that is just around the corner from the house. When we got to the bridge, we stopped to take in the beauty and each others’ company. He turned to me and said “I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you!” And I replied “I want to spend the rest of my life with you too!” He reached for his pocket and I instantly knew what was about to happen and began crying. He pulled out this beautiful ring, got down on one knee, and asked “Will you marry me?” Of course I said “Yes”!! We held each other for awhile as tears of absolute happiness rolled down our face. It was the most perfect moment of my life.
What is love to you? – Love is being with your best friend. Love is never giving up on each other no matter how tough things get. Love is finding someone to share a love for Christ with.
